PBC has been selected to create a solution for IVAR based on Microsoft Azure, with Power BI for reporting. The purpose of the solution is to extract maximum value from IVAR’s data, obtain improved management information and facilitate better decision-making based on simpler and improved access to data.
An end-to-end data warehouse solution
IVAR’s needs include gathering and storing data, setting up platform components, processing, structuring, modelling, setting up reports, data analysis and reporting. There will be a focus on creating dynamic reports. The solution will be built on the Azure platform, with Power BI for reporting. It will take into account GDPR and other data protection issues, have built-in support for data masking and various levels of data sensitivity, and facilitate easy access and simple administration. It will also make it possible for the visualisations to be viewed on both internal and external networks without needing to log in, for example on information-screen solutions.
The solution will consist of multiple reports, including reports showing power consumption and electricity costs for each process, area and electricity meter. The results of a planned power tariff will also be entered here, along with details and dates/times of actions taken. Reports will also be created for total power consumption for the company and per machine. Visualising the effects of weather conditions is also desired, both historical and predictive. The data will come from various sites, and will be brought together in the data warehouse. For IVAR, this is the first step in establishing and compiling data from across the company and from all internal systems in a wider context, where the focus is on availability, sharing and improvement work.
“We have specialised in supplying this type of solution, and we are increasingly finding that customers want to switch to cloud-based data warehouse solutions. To be selected as a supplier ahead of many major competitors is a real feather in our cap.”
- Siv Sødal, CEO of PBC.
Intermunicipal company for water, wastewater and waste management
IVAR constructs and operates joint municipal facilities for water, wastewater and waste management. The company’s vision is to secure the most competitive water, wastewater and waste-management services on the market for the region.
The company is jointly owned by the municipalities of Finnøy, Gjesdal, Hå, Hjelmeland, Klepp, Kvitsøy, Randaberg, Rennesøy, Sandnes, Sola, Stavanger, Strand and Time, which have a total population of approximately 320,000.
Best quality–price ratio
“PBC proved to be the party that IVAR wanted to enter into a contract with. A Microsoft Azure solution will be delivered. The supplier was considered to provide the best quality–price ratio. Their approach to risk in connection with costs in the implementation model was what stood out.”
We are looking forward to creating a solution that can help to improve data insight for IVAR.
